Biography

Robert entered Wyndcroft as a first-grader and graduated in 1965. His brother Jonathan is a member of the Class of 1968, his father Robert W. Evans served on the Wyndcroft Board of Governors with additional terms later when it became the Board of Trustees, and his mother Julia was a loyal Wyndcroft volunteer. Like his father and brother, he is a graduate of the Hill School.

Robert was born and raised in Pottstown, and is a direct descendant of the Evans and Brooke families who settled in Limerick in 1717. He was formerly a partner at the Pottstown law firm of Mauger, Spare, and Evans, headed by L. Stanley Mauger ’33. Among his business and professional pursuits, he served as a senior trust officer at the First National Bank of Maryland, and as a development officer at Cedar Crest College.

Robert is deeply interested in history, classical music, culture, and the great wisdom and spiritual traditions of the world. As a Haverford College junior, he spent his spring semester at the Stanford-run Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome. He is the Vice President of the Pottstown Historical Society, and a member of the Limerick Township Historical Society and the Archives and History Committee of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem. A lover of passenger trains, ships, and travel, he has traveled by train in 46 states and 14 European countries, and crossed the Atlantic three times by sea.
