Biography

Wilson Felter brings more than 30 years of experience in independent school education and leadership to his role as Head of School at The Wyndcroft School. Throughout his career, Wilson has been a passionate advocate for children and the educators who guide them, known for building strong, inclusive communities rooted in trust, collaboration, and joyful learning.

Wilson began his career in the Washington, D.C. area, where he taught social studies and language arts and coached athletics at Capitol Hill Day School, Mater Dei School, and Sandy Spring Friends School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a scholarship student-athlete, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from George Washington University.

Over the past two decades, Wilson has held senior leadership positions in Quaker schools in Philadelphia. As Associate Head of School at Greene Street Friends School, he played a key role in strategic initiatives, program development, and community engagement. Most recently, he served as Director of Middle School at William Penn Charter School, leading a division of 240 students and 35 faculty and staff with a focus on experiential learning, student wellness, and educational innovation.

Wilson’s leadership is grounded in creating psychologically safe environments where teams can thrive, and students are known and valued. He has mentored emerging leaders, launched parent education initiatives, strengthened admission and development partnerships, and built systems that foster communication and connection across all school constituencies.

In addition to his school-based leadership, Wilson has served on the boards of several independent schools, contributing his expertise in governance, strategic planning, and institutional advancement. He is also a lifelong learner and athlete who enjoys golf, squash, swimming, and learning new games.

Wilson lives in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Jeanne. They are the proud parents of three children—Josh, Darcy, and Casey—and share their home with their beloved rescue lab, Callie. Rooted in his Quaker faith and a deep belief in the transformative power of education, Wilson is excited to lead Wyndcroft into its next chapter with vision, humility, and heart.
